Andrew Thomas wins 2014 Hunter Valley Winemaker of the Year

By | Uncategorized | 2 Comments

The Hunter Valley’s night-of-nights was held last night at Wyndham Estate to toast the outstanding achievements of those in Australia’s oldest winemaking region who have made major contributions and excelled within the Hunter Valley Wine Industry. Winners were announced in seven categories, including the newest Hunter Valley “Living Legend”, who was inducted into this prestigious group.

We are extremely pleased and proud to announce that Andrew (Thommo) Thomas has been awarded the title of 2014 Hunter Valley Winemaker of the Year. Thommo is the first Hunter winemaker to be honoured with this award twice, having previously been crowned as Winemaker of the Year in 2008.

The Hunter Valley Wine and Tourism Association (HVWTA) Vice President Mike De Iuliis commented that the annual awards are a celebration of, and give recognition to, individual achievements of its own. It recognises the skill, hard work, dedication and excellence of the region’s winemakers, viticulturists and industry professionals, and reflects on the successes of the year and the regions historical roots.

“Tonight’s awards recognise those who have been integral in building and maintaining the Hunter Valley’s standing as a world-class wine producing region, and at the same time celebrates our history,” Mr De Iuliis said.

First 2014 semillon (The OC) going to bottle this week

By | Uncategorized | No Comments

Considering the 2013 semillons have been sold out for some time now, I’m pretty excited to have the first of the new vintage whites going to bottle this week. With a combination of the fantastic 2014 vintage and having moved to an older block on the Oakey Creek vineyard, the 2014 OC Semillon is possibly the best vintage we have made to date.
Our Braemore semillon and Six Degrees Semillon are due to be bottled in the next few of weeks, and after a short period to settle post bottling they will all be officially released early/mid June.
